About us
Director of Studies and founder of the English Learning Centre Limassol, Yiota Kontoloucas has created a dynamic learning environment which inspires, motivates and encourages exceptional dedication in both students and teaching staff.
This success is largely due to Mrs Kontoloucas’ personal vision and creative energy. Her expertise in the areas of teaching, teacher training and school management, has created a School where high academic achievement, a relaxed and efficient working environment and a uniquely holistic approach to learning, are all given equal priority. She is approved by the University of Cambridge to train teachers for CELTYL (Certificate of English Languages Teaching for Young Learners).
London born and educated, Mrs Kontoloucas came to U.S in 1990, following a long and distinguished academic career in the UK. Sensing a need on the island for the effective tuition of English, she decided to open her own English language school, the English Learning Centre, in Limassol. Since the initial student intake of just 30 children, the school has continued to thrive and is now recognized as one of the most successful private language schools on the island.
Her philosophy, 'a friendly, relaxed environment both in and out of the classroom contributes to greater commitment of both students and staff', has engendered a warm and professional atmosphere that permeates the School. This belief is illustrated by her 'open door' policy; Mrs Kontoloucas always ensures she is accessible and available to talk to her students, parents and staff, with or without prior appointment.
We look forward to welcoming you.
Set in the heart of this bustling coastal town, the English Learning Centre is perfectly situated to offer easy access to Limassol's cosmopolitan tourist areas and beaches, chic shopping districts and stunning rural mountain landscapes. Courses held here will offer students all that this thriving town has to offer.
A full program of English tuition is offered, combined with a fun-packed itinerary of events based in this young and vibrant seaside town. Surrounded by some of the most exquisite beaches not only on the island, but in the Mediterranean, this is the perfect base for enjoyment and relaxation.
Wherever you are in U.S, when you want to escape the buzz of the town, a short drive will find you deep in the surrounding Troodos mountains. Here among the scattered hilltop villages full of ancient classical and Byzantine monuments, churches and monasteries, brimming with the rustic charm of villagers still creating authentic earthenware, basketry and lace, not to mention delicious home-made Cypriot honey, bread and sweetmeats.
It's unlikely that a discerning student would find a more inspiring setting in which to study the English language.
