on each programme:

- Pre-Junior (5-6 yrs)
- Junior (6-7/8 yrs)
This is based on an active learning approach,
where children focus on learning through play
and discovery. The well structured course focuses
on the 4 key skills: speaking, listening, reading
and writing, each one fundamental in learning
to communicate. We work on theme-based topics
- colours, shapes, numbers, the alphabet, fruit,
my body, my family, my school, transport, incorporating
a variety of methods, eg, songs & movement,
games, puzzles, art & craft, cookery, and
listening activities which motivate,
enthuse and educate the children at the same
time.
The children's work is regularly displayed
in classrooms and on boards around
the school, encouraging total involvement
and building their confidence. Throughout
their course, we carefully monitor the
child's social, psychological and language
development. Children are encouraged
to perform singing and dancing roles in our
annual Christmas Show and Summer Fete.
This introductory 2 years ensures
Young Learners begin the 8-year
course familiar and comfortable with the English
Learning Centre, its staff and their own surroundings.

have attended this course usually score between

The GCE 'O' Level is an internationally
recognized qualification, studied
at secondary level in England.
- Course duration is one and a half years
- 4 hrs tuition per week, leading up to 6
- 8 hrs per week prior to exams, if required
- Small study groups
As well as attaining a highly regarded
academic qualification, students
attending this course will develop
specialized critical language skills.
The course is a literature based one,
covering classical and contemporary authors,
playwrights and poets. All the main genres
are studied, poetry, novels, plays, with emphasis
given to key authors and exam requirements.
Throughout the course, students
will have plenty of opportunity to
explore, review and critically analyse works
of literature through structured oral-based
discussion. Reading and essay writing form
a central element of the course.
This is a demanding and rewarding
course and students will be expected
to achieve certain standards to
fulfill the exam requirements.
On successful
completion of the 'O' level, a student
will have achieved excellent critical English
language skills. A student will be confident
enough to clearly articulate an informed opinion
on many great works of prose, poetry and drama
and will be able to continue onto
the GCE 'A' level literature course. However,
it is not a pre-requisite to have English Literature
'O' level.

The GCE 'A' Level is an internationally recognized
qualification, studied at secondary
level in England.
- Incorporating
AS and A2 papers - course duration
is two and a half years

Literature
provides the core education for any student
interested in studying English. The route it
follows provides students with enormously valuable
knowledge on human behaviour through
study of the great writers and their
works.
As with the 'O' level, the 'A' level
will lead to an internationally
acknowledged qualification. Students
will be able to demonstrate a thorough
understanding of English literature
through excellent critical English
language skills. All the basic elements
of the 'O' level are covered, but with greater
depth and more challenging critical
analysis than previously discussed.
The 'A'
level is broken down into the AS
and A2 levels. The AS level will be taken at
the end of the first one and a half years,
with the A2 level taken the following year.
For any students wishing to pursue a career
in Law, Journalism, Teaching English as a second

One of the most important aspects of 'knowing'
a language is having the ability to
translate it meaningfully. To be able
to do this successfully, understanding
the 'substance' of
the language is crucial.
In the Modern Greek 'O' level
course, our students are given a thorough
grounding in the essential 'ingredients'
that form the language. Such knowledge
equips the students with all the skills
they need to be able to understand,
translate and write effectively. For native
Greek students, the study of Modern Greek
has the added benefit of further developing
the student's
understanding of the English language.
The 'A' level course expands
these skills still further through
a greater analysis and exploration
of translation in relation to literature;
an excellent foundation for the higher study
of subjects around literature, teaching, law
and translation at University or College.
Successful students will be awarded the internationally
recognised GCE 'O' and 'A' level
awards.
